Last summer, I dreamed that a fellow blogger gave me a pair of awesome black leather thigh high boots, and I woke up inspired. The next thing I knew, they were suddenly a huge trend! I swear sometimes I think either I have my finger on the zeitgeist or that maybe I'm a fashion psychic (lol...), because who could have predicted that thigh high boots would come all the way back from the boulevard of broken dreams to the campuses of NYU? You know what I mean? Thigh high boots used to mean one thing: Pretty Woman. As in the romantic comedy starring Julia Roberts as the "hooker with a heart of gold." Now it's okay for regular girls to wear thigh high boots. Of course, they must be worn well, in a way that distracts from their former pole-hugging status. A good way to play down thigh high boots is to pair them with black opaque tights and a men's chambray shirt. The idea is to keep everything else toned down in the sexy department, because thigh high boots are--*ahem*--almost up to the waist in sex appeal. Tread carefully if you choose to pair them with a mini dress or faux fur. You might just get arrested.
