The Gazer

I first got a tiny little peek of this shoe from the Irregular Choice SS10 Lookbook on the Karmaloop Girls' Blog (which is great for first looks) and freaked. It's the most insane piece of footwear I've ever seen! I'll defend that argument by pointing out the shoe's schizophrenic qualities. I mean, yeah, the McQueen snake hoofs were crazy-looking, BUT THIS SHOE IS SCHIZOPHRENIC. It's a hi-top-sneaker-slash-sandal made up of tie-dye, leopard-print mesh, and black patent/crocodile, with a neon green pompom doll attached to the heel. What?! Tell me this shoe is hideous and I'll tell you it's not meant to walk around a country club. It's meant to go shopping in Tokyo and more realistically in terms of my life, it's meant to walk around every dive bar in Nashville this summer. This is my must-have shoe of the summer! With that fuzzy sole it looks as comfy as a pair of house shoes, but trust me, I will wear these out. The amazing Gazer will be available at the Irregular Choice shop on Lafayette St in NYC or online in April. And just because I can't finish this post without making some sort of reference to the shoegaze music genre (named for musicians who typically looked down at their feet while playing rather than dance around), here is one of my favorite songs by Lush:
