Have you hugged your sneakers today?
I thought I would never find love again, not for a sneaker. Sneakers don't often get a lot of loving, not from grown women. They're too practical (the sneakers, I mean).
My first true sneaker love came in the form of a pair of vintage blue and orange Sears brand faux Adidas from what seemed to be the late seventies--early eighties. My sister had found them in a thrift shop and thought of me. She didn't even know my size, but they fit perfectly. They were immaculate. They looked like they had been sitting boxed up in someone's closet for 25 years, they were so well-preserved. I wore them and wore them and wore them until the soles began flapping. And really, can you take a pair like that to a shoe repair shop? Not after the suede is faded and tattered. A few months ago, I decided it was time to throw them out after storing them quite hopelessly for about a year. ::sniffle::
It's just a shoe!
Here we are on one of our final outings together (my sneakers and me).

My husband and I admire the sneakers while taking a break in Central Park.
Something happened today. I wasn't looking for a new pair of sneakers. Honestly, I don't have much need for any sneakers now that I'm out of school and I'm not traveling. I was just looking around eBay for ideas about things to add to the auction pages. Then, I saw them. They caught my eye, and something about them just seemed so... me! And for the price? I couldn't say no. $20 later, these are now mine and will be forthcoming in another "I Love My..." feature soon, I'm sure.

What about you? Have you ever loved a sneaker as opposed to a gorgeous boot, pump, or platform? Sneakers need love too!

Great sneakers, I love the pictures!
LOL! Love the sneakers.
I actually do have a pair (okay, well, maybe two) of sneakers that I love more than any of my heels. My favorite pair are these little black Reeboks that I got while I was in Korea. They have super flexible soles- they actually might be for rock climbing, but since I don’t read Korean, I’m not sure-and are super cute. Best of all, I’ve never seen a single pair like them here in the States.
Here’s to sneaker love!
Lindsey – Thanks!
Alison – Hooray for sneaker love!
Those do sound cute and unique.
Annie,
Great funky site! – and you make it seem like a lot of fun.
At last, someone who has made ebay actually seem interesting! Such an achievement.
Thanks again,
Lucinda
Hi Lucinda! Thank you for validating my hard work. <3
I definitely have a great pair of sneakers. I scored them from a photoshoot when I did magazine work. They’re from the Alexander McQueen for Puma collection and never actually made it to production. I’ll take a pic with them sometime. They weren’t kidding when they said that the best things in life were free (although I don’t think they had this in mind…)!
haha! i love my sneakers too. my stan smiths. my converse. my other adidas. my pumas. my undercovers. ooh. i owe them so much.
Miss A. – Ooh, I’ve got to see those!
Gilda – *Squee!* Sneaker love!
Those are some very cute sneakers!
Very retro!
You and your husband sure make a cute couple!
Allison and Couture Carrie – Thank you!

Hey, Laarni! Thanks!
I remember when I was in my early teens (back in the 80s), I had a pair of white & sparkly pink LA Gear sneaks w/pink lacy laces. I loved those shoes!
DivaShop – I remember LA Gears! LOL… And Tretorns too.
