80%20 Holiday 2010 X Karmaloop Giveaway
(The booties pictured here are made with faux fur: 80%20 Cybill Boot.)
If you buy a pair of 80%20 Shoes from Karmaloop between now and December 14, 2010, you'll be automatically entered to win four pairs of 80%20 shoes from upcoming collections! That means a shoe from Spring 2011 (which I've peeked at and can tell you is amazing), Summer 2011, Fall 2011, and Holiday 2011--a new pair of 80%20 shoes for every season of 2011! As if that's not tempting enough, everything is currently 25% off with free shipping when you use the code: HDAZE. HDAZE is right. Here are my favorites:
80%20 Kitty Bootie (Black) - Loving how these are grayish with the distressed leather.
80%20 Kitty Boot (Putty) - Props to 80%20 for calling this color "putty" rather than the common yet subtly racist "nude." This little detail means a lot to me!
80%20 Eliotte Toggle Geometric Desert Boot - YES.
80%20 Diva Wedge - Hello, glittery sequins!
Which pair is your favorite?

I really enjoy 80%20: they do not continuosly deliberately copy a design, they carry them in my size, that kitty boot in putty must be mine!
Question: why would the use of the word nude be offensive?
I’ve lost my heart to those geo desert boots. TRULY awesome!
Thanks for the heads up babe

Joy D. – Sorry, I should have replied to your question sooner. Nude is offensive because it’s almost always used to refer to a pale beige, ballet pink, peachy pale Caucasian color and sends a message that anyone who isn’t peachy is /different/, not normal–it symbolizes white privilege. In the real diverse world, the color “nude” is all kinds of different shades. Beige, pink, peach, or creatively–putty–are much better terms to describe a color without unnecessary racist connotations. Crayola figured this out a long time ago when they changed their “Flesh” crayon to “Peach.” Fashion needs to catch up. Kudos to 80%20!
