Fashionary

When I first learned about Fashionary, a sketchbook and dictionary for fashion design students, I didn't think it was for me. I'm a fashion lover, not a fashion designer. I was wrong--this book is very handy. It's definitely a must for anyone interested in making or designing clothes, but it's also basically a reference book for fashion lovers. In the reference section there are terms for different cuts of dresses, shirts, etc., a schedule of catwalk events, laundry label definitions, an extensive body measurement system--all kinds of helpful information. I'm not lying, this book is cool beans.
I even found a use for the sketch pages--templates with body silhouettes that let you focus on drawing clothes rather than body proportions. I'm using those pages to plan outfits. Here's a sneakpeak at a couple outfits you'll see me wearing soon.

In all honesty, I have to say my favorite part is the list of fashion-related websites and blogs. I was very chuffed to see my blog's name in print, and with such great company. :)

    It’s a great way to consistently design around the female form. I design my propose custom apparel for my clients right in front of them. They get real excited see the design come to form.
