X-Mini Review

A couple weeks ago I was researching portable speakers as a stocking stuffer for Benjamin, so when X-Mini contacted me and offered a sample for review, I figured it was meant to be. Once I received the X-Mini II capsule speaker, I immediately knew it was high quality just by the feeling of it in my hand. It has a nice weight and fits in the palm of my hand--kind of like a hacky-sack but solid. The texture of the plastic(?) material is satiny soft and smooth--not slick but almost velvety and cool in a way I can't describe, but I wish all electronics were so pet-able. The compact ball unlocks to pop out like an accordion, and the audio cord fits snugly and securely in an imprint on the bottom, but comes out with ease. There's a charging port (but I haven't had to charge it yet though I use it frequently), a port to connect another speaker for stereo, and a volume control. I love the little blue light that indicates when it's switched on. I should also mention there are rubber feet on the bottom so it doesn't roll around, but I've managed to lose one. Oop!

Now to the important part: How does it sound? It packs impressive volume and bass for such a little speaker. Benjamin uses it for his Ipod and I use it with my laptop. On my laptop it boosts my volume by at least 200% and makes a huge difference in depth of sound. I honestly recommend it if you want something portable and adorable to amplify your laptop for listening to music or watching movies.

    These guys are awesome! I don’t play the classic acoustic guitar. But when I heard their music, it just made me want to learn the instrument. I am now saving up to buy myself one and hopefully get the skills to be able to play their music. You should try and look them up. My favourite piece by Depapepe is currently “Start”.
