Three dates mark the end of summer in America--the first day of school, Labor Day, and the equinox. We've passed two hurdles and have made the dive from 100 degree heat to cool 60's gray. Flannel daydreams are about to come true, and the 80%20 Fall collection is out. Have I talked about these yet? Here are my top 3 faves:

Nektar De Stagni – FRESH (Water) Pearls

Miami-based designer Nektar Destagni is doing some very fresh and unexpected things with classic freshwater pearls. It's pretty safe to guess Barbara Bush would not approve. Marge Simpson would probably grumble. Me? I'm loving these! Observe:

Pearl and Leather Multi-Necklace - A Proenza-esque (yet more elevated in my opinion--less mountain-climby, more caviar) rope necklace made with salmon crystals wrapped in silk and pearls bound with leather. Inspired!

Pearl & Smiley Face - Childish smiley raver beads paired with genuine pearls. Dazed and confused. Love it or hate it. Fancy grown-up friendship bracelets have saturated fashion and this is the next level. Oh and,

Quartz Crystal and Pearl Bracelet - The Tumblr youth have spoken and quartz crystals are the vogue. Crystals conduct electricity and are believed to hold good vibes. I'm feelin' it with this bracelet.

United Nude 50%-Off Sale

United Nude is having a big up-to-50%-off sale on their Spring/Summer styles. I perked up when I got the email about it, having been a longtime admirer with a hole in my closet. Unfortunately, I have big feet and they're out-of-stock in the styles I like best. In any case, here are a few of my favorite beauts.

Abstract + Dark Brown - Truly a work of art to behold. A shoe, or a sculpture? The heel goes into Stripper Town, but it goes to a museum in Stripper Town. You know what I mean? (Edit: There's a Frank Lloyd Wright house in Stripper Town. LOL.)

X-Wedge Elastic in Fruit Punch - The colors are a little obnoxious and juvenile--which of course I love!

Block Ankle Strap - I'm not sure about the ankle straps, but the florescent red heel combined with the pewter brownish perforated leather is just so on-trend and modern.

Eamz Pump Black - Random placement in this post, but this shoe is at the top of my wishlist right now. I've talked about this before, and I'm still loving the mid-Century mod furniture inspiration on the chair leg (foot?) heel. I'm in need of a basic black pump. Yeah, I don't have a basic black pump. That's sort of elementary, isn't it? This one is The One. I hope they get more back in stock soon.

Iris van Herpen X United Nude Crystallization - This shoe isn't actually on sale, but it's worth mentioning because I've seen it all over Tumblr up and down without a source. No real further comment needed on it.

Fashionary In Color

Fashionary is a sketchbook and reference book for fashion design students--a must for anyone interested in making or designing clothes. I'm no designer, but I often use the sketch pages--silhouettes that let you focus on drawing clothes rather than body proportions--to plan outfits. Sometimes it's nice to brainstorm without making a mess.

My favorite part is seeing my blog listed in the index among fashion-related websites.

Usually only available in classic black, it's now available for a limited time only in magenta, tangelo, iceberg, and lime in celebration of this season's neon brights.

Which color would you choose?
I think maybe my favorite is blue... or magenta.

Fringe & Horizontal Stripes

I love the way the fringe on this crop top blends into the horizontal stripes of the dress. It's less in your face festival fringe and appears like it's woven into a novel gradient design. If the fringe were as long as the dress, it'd be even better. There's even a bit of a moire effect. I wore this to the Raekwan show which seems like it was forever ago. Dress As Skirt

Remember my DIY "tie-dyed" boots? If you love those but were shy to make a pair for yourself, 80%20 now has the real deal in their new Spring 2011 collection in a variety of colors and styles. Tie-dyed cotton is classic, but these are actually tie-dyed leather, which is novel. It's something I've been craving this season since spotting a tie-dyed leather tote on Kelly Killoren Bensimon's arm in a recent episode of RHONY--one of my guilty pleasures. (By the way, I love Kelly's sophisticated-surfer style.) These booties have the 80%20 signature hidden wedge of course, and a cute little bows knotted on the side. ♥

Birthday Dress

I've been dreaming about this dress since I first found it on the Seneca Rising site. It quickly sold out of my size there and I'd almost lost hope on finding it, so I was thrilled to finally stumble upon the dress in my size at Edge of Urge, and on sale for a good price. I decided it should be a birthday gift for myself. Seneca Rising pieces are even more beautiful in person with all the details and stitching--they're really works of art. Naturally, I wore this out to celebrate my birthday on Friday.
