Self-Fulfilling Prophesy

Do you have a pair of tights like these in your dresser?

Coilhouse wrote a cute article about them a while back. They're pretty universal among teenage goths. I'm not a teenager anymore, and I'm only goth a few nights out of the year, lol... but there's something endlessly cool about black and white stripes. I updated mine by cutting them right below the knee with a pair of scissors.

Target dress
Silence & Noise vest
DIY leggings
My Name Necklace
Om Mani Padme bracelets
Black studded bracelet, gift from bb
Vending machine plastic ring
80%20 Shoes that I truly wear 80% of the time. They go with everything...

I'm really feeling the look of tights or leggings that stop right below the knee paired with skirts/dresses that hit right above the knee. Mini skirts don't work quite as well--the proportions look off. Of course, as far as I know, you can't buy leggings at that length, but you can cut them off or roll them up, or in this case, split a pair of hose. Just like when I got lace bracelets out of trimming those leggings last week (see here), this time I got bonus socks. :)

Want a pair of these striped tights? They're a classic! Check out eBay:

  1. They are cute – I like the length -I don’t have them in tights, but I have them in knee high socks, although I have to say I was never really a goth myself, just really loved the stripes

  2. Hi there-wow, those tights have created 2 fabulous looks, I love the leggings and ankle socks!

  3. omg leggings just below the knee are a huge thing here. We have these stores called Claires and a spinoff of them named something else that’s totally escaping me right now and they’re both chalk full of these leggings in every colour and pattern imaginable. Some have lace at the bottom of them, just like the ones I wore when I was in like, grade 5.

  4. what I appreciate most about a blog is bravery and a sense of humor
    you’re 2 for 2 babe

  5. You’ve made a giganitc improvement on the full length tights! I’ve always thought the full leg stripe was a bit much. I’m loving the proportion. Plus the colors are amazing with each other & the vest downright speaks to me :) XOXO, MissAmy

  6. Two great looks, love the ankle socks .x.

  7. I love that look! I still have dozens of striped leg-things (and keep getting more….curse you, Sock Dreams!), so I love finding outfits that mesh well with good old black-and-whites.

Also…I’ve actually seen just-below-the-knee leggings at a department store. If only I could remember which one…

  8. Wow! Nicely done. It has a touch of the anime flavor, but that’s partly the booties as well. Cute cute cute!
