Part Three Of The Blue, Yellow, And Black Triptych
![]()
The beautiful and amazing Cara Mia of Hippie Couture sent me this awesome gold spandex jumper. I'm a fan of her blog, and her Etsy store, Future Hippie, is full of technicolor vintage goodies. Go see what I mean. ![]()
I'm wearing it with a blue turtleneck from Target, a thrifted vest (the one I teased about a few entries ago), tights, vintage Nine West booties, and my custom necklace from Etsy seller, Stoopidgerl.
.
I also decided to experiment with black lip gloss, inspired by the elusive Chanel YSL gloss that made a few waves not long ago. I layered some Halloween novelty black lipstick over Urban Decay primer potion and under Maybelline Superstay clear gloss.

It looks pretty cool, but my usual purpink or tomato red do much better favors for my pale complexion. OK, to be honest, it looks a bit ghastly. Perhaps with a tan and a more sophisticated outfit it might look better, but I like how it fits in with the celestial palette of my outfit.

Very cool jumper.
i really like that lipstick you’re wearing. you pull it off very well, i wouldnt be able to if my life depended on it haha. and that gold dress it really cool, looks great!
I think you need to put the gold dress and the purple leggings togethr for true metallic nirvana!
Ali,
WendyB &
nenuca – Thanks!
Skye – LOL, tried that just for giggles–I looked like I belonged on a high school dance troupe! My high school’s rival’s colors were purple and gold, so that could have something to do with it… but I totally felt the teen spirit!
haha
lol. i like how you were like… okay it looks ghastly. silly! i think it would look good if it were more matte? what do you think? i’ve wanted to try that with the crazy ysl one that has like a wait list?! haha.
I think black lipstick transcends ghastly, it’s a statement more than a colour you wear because it suits you, and therefore I think in a weird way, anyone can get away with it as long as they have the confidence to pull it off.
I may be talking rubbish though, I’m not very awake yet!
Oh that etsy shop is so awesome!!
And I love your outfit everything works so well and I don’t mind the black lipgloss it works well as part of the whole color scheme!
I dont think the black lips look too ghastly! I don’t think its a flattering colour for anyone, its more a stement colour than an ‘i’m so beautiful’ colour, but you pull it off just fine
i do like the gold dress with grey tights its a combination I would never think to wear but it looks good, I may have to start!
I think you MASSIVELY rock the black lip!
wow! i love how you put it together with the tights, top and jacket…..the necklace makes it…….and with this specific look i think the lipstick works great.
you rock!!!
that’s true. And in the movie they used to say “oh, it’s nice, after I can make it shorter and use again” – ironically, sure.
Golden dress, amazingly shiny and fun.
xo/ fashion chalet
Wow! You pulled it off! Sexy!
Farren – Oh yeah, it must have been YSL, not Chanel. I must be thinking of Chanel because they used to have one, right? I’m sort of clueless about these things.
Vixel – Good point.
Miss Karen,
Katie,
Miss Corrine – Thanks! <3
Cara Mia – No, you rock!!! I love the dress. ♥ Thanks again.
tassia – (Hey everyone, we’re talking about that Katharine Hiegl movie, 27 Dresses
) Exactly, that’s what everyone says but they almost never do!
Fashion Chalet &
Laarni – Thanks!
I like you in the black gloss.
You look great in the gold jumper, and did a great job of combining it with other pieces.
woo-hoo! You look radicool!
Love that jumper!!
lov the gold… it rocks! Not so sure abt the lip colour dear…
wow, I can’t imagine being allergic to chocolate!
Cool outfit!
that outfit looks great on you, but i dont imagine myself wearing it! love the shoes
OOH gold & shiny=love! Looks awesome!
You know, the dark lip looks really lovely in the wide shots … but not as much close-up. Maybe a darker, but not black, shade for experimentation!
I agree your usual pink/red is the hotness
you are the QUEEN OF LAME baby
I agree, pink/red is the hotness on you
you are the QUEEN OF LAME!
Love the look – very cool!
enc – Thank you, I value your opinionm highly.
stoopidgerl – Heheee, thanks!!
lenorenevermore – Me neither..
much love – Lol, it’s no fun, trust me! I’m allergic to milk too, so the everything on the dessert menu is banned unless it’s fresh fruit.
The Stiletto Effect – It’s a little on the Rainbow Brite side, lol..
Em – Thanks, my little magpie! <3
Sal – It looks great in the shot without the vest. Makes me wish I had a 20′s bob. But yeah, it’s pretty much unwearable.
Dana – Oops! Looks like Super Cache hid your comment from you! Sorry, thanks for posting it again. It cracks me up to read LAME as in uncool and not the fabric, lol…
please sir – Thanks!
The last pic is the best! You look so cute; very reminiscent of “Vanessa” (aka Elizabeth Hurley) in Austin Powers – remember the futuristic silver garb?
Anyway, delighted to meet another Princess Bride fan!
Stop rhyming now, I mean it.
Anybody want a peanut?
xoxox,
CC
I love it! I’d totally rock it with purple (those purple leggings OMG!). Or with that turtleneck and navy tights to match. Anyway, superhot!
omg, i totally am considering getting the ysl black lipgloss. i think i will finally get it!
You totally should have worn a super high ponytail!
You look incredible! I’m loving the gold… and those boots! Need I say more…

The lipstick is AMAZING!!! And I totally adore your gold dress and that necklace is super
love the 80s vibe of this outfit, pale denim just gets better and better the more i see it!
you really pull off this black gloss, i think it’s great, punky and different.
wow. i wish i could pull off this color lipstick! i love this look
totally love the gold jumper.
definatlyyyy want oneee.
such a great gold jumper!
you know annie spannie
I just wanted to let you know
I don’t like lame in colors on ANYONE but you
and you are inspiring me to consider maybe thinking about perhaps wearing a small lame piece in a color other than black someday.
Everything is just working like clockwork…the denim tones down the gold…the jumper shape adds a different dimension to metallics and the black gloss works with your blond locks…. goddamnit it’s genius!
that jumper is deeelish!
Awesome outfit, I think the gloss works with it! I’ve been curious to see what it looks like if you’re not a YSL model so thankyou for satisfying my curiosity!
Wow, the black lips are fierce! You pull off so many trends that are outside the norm, and do it with such style. Love the blog
I LOVE the black gloss on you — I’m so jealous you were able to snag the YSL
I love that gold jumper! Though I doubt I would have enough chutzpah to pull it off– but you look wonderful– like a collage of the past and right now..
A futuristic hippie (for lack of better adjectives to use).
ps
I dont think the black lips are ghastly– they are quite nice.. but could take time getting used to..
xoxo
