Jonathan Saunders For Target Pants

I've been crazy about the Jonathan Saunders for Target Ponte Pants in blue since I first saw them popping up on different style blogs announcing Target's next designer. I marked my calendar and rushed out to Target on Oct. 5, when the collection debuted. And then, I went to another Target. Apparently, they only carried the pants in black for Nashville, so I went back home and ordered them from Target's website. It's a good thing I had tried them on, because I had to order a size two times larger than my normal size! The problem was in the waist line. I have a relatively large waist when compared to my hips. So instead of skin tight pants, I have, well, skinny fit pants with a little give. :/ Plus, they are substantially darker in real life than in the promotional photo. I thought they would be a nice vivid royal blue, but they are closer to navy.
My hopes and dreams are dashed, but still, they are pretty cool.

I wearing them with a thrifted lace top, my antique locket, an XL tank from Target, and new vintage Nine West boots (which are love).

Edit: This collection is long gone now. I recommend checking out the following eBay listings for designer Target collaberations:

  1. Those pants look great on you– and they match the boots really well!
(And yikes to Target– two size difference? That’s so insane! Give me back my vanity sizing!)

  2. Ashe – Thank you! And yes, 2 sizes, but that’s not my usual experience with Target. It must just be this collection. In any case, yes, some vanity sizing would have been preferable!! :)

  3. I think they must have played around with the color settings of that photo in Photoshop because that is a serious difference. I used to be a color specialist for a apparel company so I am seriously sensitive to things like that and would even complain to the company. They still look great on you, but I would have preferred the vivid blue, that’s what would make me choose to buy them.

  4. i love that model !! i met her on a harper’s bazaar shooting !!!! cute no !!?

  5. …such lovely top & prada-ish indeed without the heavy pri$ce tag…so savy & fab!!! Lovely weekend to you dear… ~blessings as always*

  6. Oh I hate when things look totally different IRL then in the pictures :( But they still look really great on you!

  7. I can see why you’d like those pants (in the first photo — the blue is amazing!) I have when online pictures and real life totally clash. =/ But, I still think the pants look good on you. =) So, no worries! I really want that cardigan though! I’m going to go check them out on the target website.

  8. Yeah, that’s me in the Urban ad above (in my blog!) yay they picked it and then emailed me about it :) thanks for the comment! <3

  9. It’s still a good blue, even though it’s not what you were hoping for.

  10. what the? they don’t give off the bright blue at all, that is false advertising
but I do like them because they’re not denim blue
and I LOVE the new vtg nine west boots

  11. Thanks! :)

    PS: I love your boots!!

  12. I see what you mean about them being darker than you thought they would be.

However, you look very good in them, so don’t despair. :)

  13. love these pants!

Target has the best things ever!

  14. They look so much better on you than on the model!

  16. aaaw, loving that lace top! you look beautiful!

  17. It’s not fair I want a Target shop in London!!!

  18. Wow, they ARE a lot darker in person. But they look great on you, esp. with that great lace top. I’m so sad that I can’t order from Target in Canada, if only for their Go International designs. Tear.

  19. I love the name of your blog !! Annie Spandex !!
    Rocks !!

  20. I have that problem with pants too (damn square hips!), but although it’s a different look, I like it. Very cool and kinda slouchy.

  21. I just might have to get me some of those jeans! :)

  22. Wow, they are MUCH darker than in the photo … but still damned sassy, Annie!

  23. How deceiving….that is not a royal blue at all….. they still look lovely though especially with the lace!
