Chloe is a French fashion house started in the 1950's when the founder, Gaby Aghion, saw a need for off-the-rack designer clothes. Thus began the launch of Prêt-à-Porter (or Ready-To-Wear) clothes. Once Chloe got it started, other houses decided it was a good idea as well. Without Gaby Aghion, who knows, we may still have been left with only Haute Couture, and all designer clothes would be well-tailored but rather expensive. The tradition of supplying designer clothes for the people continued with the launch of See By Chloe in 2001, a more casual and affordable offshoot brand targeted to a young market. With the next year came the first collection of handbags and the Paddington bag, a purse adorned with a padlock, became a popular "it" bag. You can find several of these along with Chloe dresses, tops, and jackets by checking eBay. The following listings try to weed out the superfluous "Chloe" items that refer to item names, not the brand.
