Betsey Johnson

Betsey JohnsonBetsey Johnson once summed up her fashion sense as such: "Take a leotard and add a skirt." She was involved with the late 60's New York art scene with the Velvet Underground, Edie Sedgwick, and Andy Warhol. She ran successful boutiques in the city, taking over a rockers label, Alley Cat, in the 70's before launching her namesake line in 1978. The classic vintage Betsey Johnson dress is a babydoll style with long sleeves, black velvet, and a rose motif. Later designs have become very liberal with hot pink and sweetheart necklines. I'm a huge fan of Betsey Johnson and think she is one of the greatest! Along with her whimsical rocker designs, I admire her upbeat attitude and how it keeps her young.
