Everlasting Nail Polish
![]()
If Willy Wonka made nail polish, he would make everlasting nail polish, don't you think?
I picked up a bottle of Petites nail polish a couple months ago because I liked the color. I put on two coats. After two weeks, there was a little wear around the tops of my nails, and the bottoms were growing in clean, but there were no chips. I wore it until my nails grew too long for my tastes and I removed the polish in order to trim them.
I bought more colors and repeated the process with the same results, despite washing dishes, scrubbing pans, and removing staples with my fingernails.
Petites nail polish does not chip. Ever. WTF? It costs something like $1.30 a bottle, and they don't even advertise as long-wearing polish.
To be clear, I haven't used any topcoats or basecoats! Just two coats of Petites, and that's it. I'm baffled! Most drugstore nail polish, even long-wearing types, ends up chipping the next day without a good topcoat. But Petites is practically permanent! It's perfect for me because I am 1. cheap, 2. lazy, and 3. clumsy. I am in love with this nail polish! It's my Holy Grail.
My only wish is that they would make more interesting colors. There's a whole plethora of pinks, but not very many unusual colors to choose from. However, I do like that there are many non-shimmery colors. That's a plus. But do they make a yellow? Because that's what I want.
Willy Wonka would make it.
If you can't find them in your area, there are several bottles for sale on eBay for even cheaper than I paid at the drugstore. Click here!

Sounds perfect for me, coz I am cheap, lazy and clumsy too. I only ever wear clear because I can’t be assed re-doing my nails every two days…. Maybe i should buy some of this.
PS: While I was driving around today I was thinking about how in every ‘daily outfit’ I take I feel like I look fat instead of pregnant, but that’s ok coz all bloggers have one little thing that isn’t quite perfect (which I wont list because most of them are glaringly obvious) and then I was wondering who doesn’t have a flaw and IT WAS YOU. You are the most beautiful style blogger. Congratulations
(Esme in the laneway came a close second btw)
Interested!!!! I clicked the link.
only ships to US?
Can you buy the bottles for me? I will pay. huhuhu.
I like the non-shimmery non-pearlised colours too – no idea why they’re so hard to find most of the time. I don’t wear any nail polish on my fingernails, partly the maintenance and partly because it doesn’t look good on me, but I’m always in the market for something hard wearing for my toes. The one I have now is pretty good, it’s some weird Korean brand I bought for like a buck a bottle at a discount hair supplies store – random!
Or i will trade the Eliantos. hahaha. *desperate*
Song – Me? Either I’m good at hiding my flaws or you’re not reading very many blogs, lol… I’m flattered either way, thank you <3
Laarni – Sent you a link to some that ship internationally. Hope it works out!
Skye – This was a serendipitous discovery as well!
gosh love that it doesnt chip! as all the brands ive tried however expensive start chipping by the next day or so even with the topcoat on. check out recent posts for a cool yellow nail colour on me by Barry M. only problem is that it chips ;o)

I wish I could quit biting my nails, it is one of the only vices I have left. I especially wish I could because I started seeing all of these great colors this summer, and yellow was my favorite, but I bite my nails until they are little nubbins.
Wow! That’s a great tip because who has time to maintain their polish on the daily? I know I don’t. I hate when it chips right away. I’m going to buy some of these.

Awesome! This is exactly what I’ve been looking for lately. My little girl loves to get her nails painted the same color as mine but has little patience for a topcoat. A nail polish that can potentially withstand the abuse of a toddlers never stopping hands (and feet) would be great.
Will have to try, as I am also cheap & lazy when it comes to home manis!!!
xoxox,
CC
I will have to get some of this! I am always chipping my nail polish!
This nail polish sounds magnificent, every other polish I try, it chips immediately – I always thought it my nails just didn’t like nail polish….but now it’s off to Ebay I go!
What a great find and at such a great price. I know everyone raves for OPI but thta chips on me sooo bad. And don’t ever buy MAC’s nail polishes. They are the worst especially cause they are pricey.
I need to get my hands on that stuff.
Cheap, lazy and clumsy. . . my you are selling yourself today
I’ll raise you an indulgent, lazy and clumsy.
PS- I paint my nails so rarely, the bottle of Chanel “Pirate” which I bought two Christmas’ ago has lasted me for ages. It does chip however. . . but it’s a beautiful colour.
oh my gosh, what value. i usually pay about $20 for Chanel. I apply no chip coating over my nail polish and work pretty well.
This has nothing to do with this post, but I joined your posse.
Is there a secret handshake I’m supposed to learn?
Xx
I have never seen this brand but for $1.30, sounds like a great deal.
sweet! i actually bought a blue bottle of petites, and i have yet to use it
hmm, yellow *would* be nice.

Ahhhhhhh thank youu!!!! I was just repainting my nails and complaining how the color always chips. Urghgh. Anyway, I am going to go find me some petites nail polish. That blue color is pretty cute
*** Forgot to add! For best results, make sure the coats are thin and you let the first one dry completely before the second one! I went a little thick on one finger and it’s chipping just barely at the top, of course, this is after 6 days of washing dishes and bleaching jeans without gloves on. So that’s still near perfect, if you ask me. ***
Also, sorry for the late replies and lack of updates–I’ve been having technical difficulties.
marian – I’ll go check out that yellow right away.
Elizabeth – Oh, sounds painful.. doesn’t nail polish dissuade that habit? :/
Julie – Not me.. ;]
Luz – Aw, how cute! It should do pretty well on her.
Couture Carrie – xox
Miss Karen – I know! I really wasn’t expecting this!
Marisol – Ooh, I’ll keep that in mind.
enc – ::nods:: I hate to promote Wal-Mart since that “Vote Republican” meeting they had, but that’s where I found it.
Aja – hehe, well you know…
savvy – Yeah, a good topcoat will make any polish worthwhile..
Grant – I saw that! Thank you so much! ♥ Good to know you’ve got my back.
Wendy – Seriously, I am so impressed with it.
Amaris – Oh, did you get the pale blue? I love it..
pjnawm – kjsdfoiyatsdofjvasjdfhgozsdcsdaf to you too, lol, spam robot
Dollface – I LOVE the blue. It’s not shimmery either.
i should check the link, sounds really interesting)
Oh, I love that brand so much! My first bottle was a silvery-green that I found in my Easter basket many, MANY years ago! I’ve been a huge fan of their metallicy colors ever since!
the blue one is so cute!!

There is obviously a lot to know about this. I think you made some good points in your article.
