Entropy Nails

While I was removing my nail polish from the "Gareth Pugh" quasi- half moon manicure, I thought, "Ohhh... pretty," after the first swipe from a cotton ball. The top layer of color streaked off revealing the bottom layer with a stunning effect similar to another pair of shoes: my 80%20 DIY tie-dye boots (see the tutorial for these boots here).

The process is simple.

  • Paint your nails with two layers of one color, then after that dries add one top layer of another color. Don't do a top coat yet.
  • Take a q-tip dipped in polish remover and sweep over your nails gently, revealing the bottom color and leaving splotches of the top color.
  • If you take too much off and remove a bit of the bottom color, you can patch it up pretty easily by dabbing a small amount of polish. It won't be noticeable.
  • Wait for this to dry, then go ahead with your top coat.

  • Kaboom! Entropy nails!
