The Multiple Uses Of Jean Straps
![]()
When I was offered a pair of Jean Straps, I initially passed them over because I don't accept everything just because it's free. Later that week I was pulling boots on over skinny jeans and as I struggled to keep the jeans in place, I thought, "Oh yeah! I guess those jean straps would really come in handy right now. Maybe I should give them a try." Not only do they work well for their intended purpose, they have some bonus uses.
They're very cool as garters! The red and gold stripes are a bit masculine and go along with the military trend. Since they look so much like uniform hash marks, I paired them with hunter green over-the-knee stockings. They stay firmly in place.
- Wet Seal beret and vest
- Dirty Violet tank
- Target jersey skirt
- White tights from I forget
- Jean Straps garters
- Hunter green over-the-knee socks - eBay
- 80%20 Zoey shoes
They're also great to cinch in a loose top or dress.
Vintage top, thrifted.
Can you think of any other uses?

Hi there-wow, they’re fabulous, not only do they look unique and stylish, they’re so versatile!!
‘cool as’ – i never heard that phrase (or the more popular ‘sweet as’) used in the states, only when i came to new zealand! it’s funny as to read it here
and the straps are definitely sweet as.
You look great! What a creative use for the clips
Love them ! So…versatile !
Mabye you can wear them as bracelets..
They do actually look awesome! Would make good bracelets too perhaps?

ooh very innovative i love the way you think!
usually i just pull socks over skinnies to get them into boots but it looks so grotty when you take the boots off!
I love garters. What innovative ideas! Those look like they would work with a micro-mini dress holding up my stockings and securing the dresses hem on a windy gusty day. What a dilemma. I do like having my panties show sometimes. Your green stockings and outfits look nice.
First off, I love them for their original use. Getting jeans into boots is an un-fun challenge for me, and I’d take any aid I could find.
They might also work to hold a fly-away sweater closed.
I did womder what else you could use the for, I have a pair myself but haven’t tried them yet. It’d be good if they came in other colour combinations, I fancy trying the knee high thing myself!
Holding sleeves up on long sleeve shirts or T-shirts.
i love what you did with the straps!! So sexy and fun!

What a great idea. I hate it when my jeans start bunching up as I pull on a pair of tall boots. I love the idea of using them as garters – you look fantastic in that outfit. I would also use them to cinch my cardigans instead of using the buttons.
Now this is quite frankly AMAZING!
Love.

Hey lovely :3
I love the ensemble that you’ve put together here – the somber pallet being brightened by the straps – the floaty skit/tank combination and the restricton of the vest/tights. LOVE!
I need to get mysel a pair of these straps!
Aaaand, I suppose if you had a vintage pillowcase you liked and straps in an appropriate colour – you could make yourself a camisole? Cut the end of the case so it’s a tube and then use the straps as shoulder straps?
Xx
I am usually completely turned off by something so obviously practical but I love your creative thinking. How about using them to attach a crop to your jeans, not sure if it would have any function or just look good.
erica – Your comment had me scratching my head for a moment before I understood it. Lol… I meant the straps work well as garters, not that they’re “cool as” (adjective) garters. But hey, that still communicates my point so it’s not wrong.

Clare – Bracelets! Great idea!
hannahlizabeth – Actually, that is pretty freakin genius. I love the way you think!
Panty Buns – Thanks! Your comment made me smile. My blog attracts a number of fetishists and it’s all good. As long as no one is harmed I say there’s nothing wrong with a little deviancy.
EmilyKennedy – That’s a good idea!
Kb – You should totally try it!
Danielle – That’s brilliant!! I’m going to do that.
Grant – That’s so creative! I love it.
Style Eyes – What do you mean by attaching a crop? I’m intrigued!
EVERYONE – Thanks, babes! xox Great ideas!
Oh my gawd I need some of those, they’re amazing! You could almost use them as cardigan clips too, and maybe pin a sparkly brooch at each end to hide the bobbly bit! Xxx
Love the look!
xx
Amy – Oh man, military pins would be perfect to use as the brooches!!
Nita-Karolina – Thanks! xx
Wow, these are really great ways of using the jean straps!! I definitely could use a pair myself, since I love wearing boots.
Aha! The last way is very very important. How cool
I love your blog! It’s a FAB.
Oh great top! I love the DIY. The jean straps look cool too.
Thanks, everyone! xox
