I Want… Twiggy’s Striped Scarf!
![]()
This is a photograph of Twiggy taken by Linda McCartney back in the 60's. (Sorry about the poor quality--it was the best I could find!) I saw this in a higher resolution a few years ago and have never forgotten it. I fell in love with her scarf and have been checking eBay for something like it ever since. You can hardly tell from this photo, but it's got green and silver lurex stripes. Twiggy is wearing it as a head wrap and has attached a rhinestone brooch. It completely transforms her outfit of a kelly green t-shirt and black slacks from casual to chic. She looks adorable! A little cold and hungry but adorable all the same. ![]()
Here are some of the scarf's third cousins twice removed:

As for me, I'm going to continue keeping a watch out for a green and silver one like these. If you find one, let me know!
And before I end this post, I have to ponder... did Twiggy see Little Edie Beale of Grey Gardens at a Hampton's party and feel inspired?

I adore this photograph of Twiggy - it’s amazing how she still looks so much like this today.
I like the scar too! So hopefully if I find any I’ll find two - one for me and one for you!

Hi Haute in LA–thanks! and I’ll keep you in mind as well!
I have never worn a scarf in my entire life
because..
number 1, i live in a tropical country.
number 2, i have seen some people here who wear scarf, but I don’t see the point. Fashion? but it’s frigging hot in here.
Hehe. Hey, hun, can you put a feedburner subscribe by email to your blog? I wanna subscribe. Thanks.
Laarni, you’re right that this is more of a cool weather scarf. But I can see wearing a lighter scarf for sun protection on a tropical island–which by the way–must be paradise! Thanks for the feedburner request. Done and done! <3
Twiggy was an amazing Fashion Model + Beautiful Face but way too Skinny*
Sadly she’s inspired the Olsen Twins + Nicole Richie + all these other Models starving themselves to look like Twigs*
Yes, Billy, she definitely looks a little “hungry,” but not unhealthy.
I love scarves like that!
Glad you like, Clockworkpink!
My favorite scarf is the first one. I love pink. I’m going to check it out right now. Thanks for the inspiration.
You’re very welcome, Monique!
You, your content, and your site are really cute!
That Twiggy picture is a good one. It looks modern.
I am a scarf freak — I have tons and love to wear them. I have one that I wore for 15 years almost daily, as a headscarf, neck wrap, summer top or skirt, motorcycle face shield, you name it, I could turn my scarf into any form of clothing. Bought it in London on the street, softest cotton ever, was from India. I wore it to stinky shreds and I can’t find its proper replacement — so sad. Was red with Buddhas. Am still looking.
Thank you, Jaden! It’s always sad when some item we love and love until it’s worn down is irreplacable. But the uniqueness was probably half of its appeal!
Thanks for the post
thats it, bro
